The first 3 months of blogging have passed. I didn’t know what to expect when starting this journey. The sole purpose is to share my experiences and hopefully help a few people on the road. To be honest, I was hoping to attract at least a few people.
I would like to point out that blogging is more a hobby and means I’m barely spending time on how SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) works nor do I make any money from this blog. I did some digging into the world of affiliate marketing, but more to cover the expenses. Did I earn anything so far? Nope. Consistently commenting on other blogs is another strategy I don’t use. When I leave a comment, it’s because I’m genuinely interested in that particular post. Then how did I attract visitors? Apparently our Instagram page helped us with increasing the amount of traffic as well as adding our name to the Rockstar Finance community. Besides that, people just seem to find us.
After 3 months of blogging, the graph below shows the amount of visitors we had. In September, we reached 95 visitors and 236 pageviews. This is way beyond what I expected.
Even more amazing to me is the international level a blog can reach. People from 26 different countries visited this blog.
If you want to share your story or simply say hello, don’t hesitate. We would love to hear from you!
What does the future bring?
Blogging is a very fun experience to me! Especially the amount of people I reach and the returning feedback make it worth while. One of the goals is to set up a Facebook page so it’s a bit easier to reach an even broader audience. I want to spread my message and make sure I can help people who might struggle with their financial situation. I might spend some more time on how to optimize the blog on searching engines and engage more in affiliate programs, simply because some of the services we use can really help others.
My girlfriend is already super busy with university but she should make an appearance here at some point and share her side of the story. In a previous blogpost , I mentioned she has some great tools for calculating the amount of money you need in order to “retire”. This is on her to do list as well.
Personally, I consider this blog a success due to the amount of interesting people I encountered. We shared stories, experiences and provided tips. And that’s what it’s all about. I would like to express my gratitude and say thank you for visiting The Melon Deal and taking the time to look around!
